First aid kits are needed in every home and business. It is a simple thing to buy a pre-built first aid kit and call it a day. The first aid kits that are sold as a package are great for most situations. I think it is always nice to add a few items to them that fit you and your situation specifically. For instance, my son won't leave bandages alone so whenever possible I prefer to use the liquid bandage by 3M. It protects the cut or scrape allowing it to heal but my son can't peel it off. 3M Nexcare doesn't seem to come standard in a lot of first aid kits and that is a shame. Nexcare makes great products that are perfect for work and home. I am going to highlight some of the ones that I use often and have become standard in our personal first aid kits.
- No-Sting formula
- Waterproof
- Easy to use spray bottle
- Skin shield covers minor cuts and abrasions
- Breathable and waterproof protection keeps out germs and dirt
- Helps cuts and scrapes heal faster
- Wears off naturally so you don't have to scrub an already sore wound
3M Nexcare - Waterproof Bandages are great. I love the one-handed application, simple to apply without risking contaminating the bandage itself. It is actually possible to put this bandage on one-handed unlike a lot of other bandages I have tried that say they are one-handed but really aren't that easy. It has staying power too so you can use it for blisters on the back of heels without worrying about it falling off in your sock. This is a minor wounds bandage but I find myself needing it quite often. Small scrapes, blisters, small cuts, all those annoying small injuries are perfect for this. This is also a must have if you have kids in the house. It is a comfortable bandage that doesn't roll up along the sides easily so kids will have a better chance of leaving the bandage alone and letting the wound heal.
- One-hand application
- Seals our water, dirt, germs
- Ultra-thin for better comfort
- Breathable material
3M Nexcare - Tegaderm Waterproof Transparent Dressing
3M Nexcare has an entire line of First Aid supplies that are a great addition to your home kit. Another great choice is the 3M Nexcare - Tegaderm Waterproof Transparent Dressing. It is available in different sizes so it is versatile. Not only does it seal out water, dirt, and germs to help prevent infection, you can wear it up to 7 days which means it is a cost effective choice for wound care. Tegaderm is hypoallergenic which means it can be worn by people with sensitive skin. The last time I needed stitches was when I dropped a knife on my foot. The silly and careless injury was difficult to live with. The tegaderm helped so much! It was hard to cover the area of the injury because it was always getting rubbed by socks and shoes. The Tegaderm dressing covered the stitches and allowed the whole area to stay dry and heal.
